Guy Clutterbuck is the source of our Mandarin Garnets. His deep contacts with native people in remote places have allowed him to gain access to the mountains of Afghanistan and Northern Pakistan, to the far reaches of the African bush. His work depends upon trusting his life to the small scale artisan miners who he supports with his unique approach to the gem trade on the ground: fairness and integrity. Guy works directly from small scale miners a remote area in Zambia near the Malawi boarder. Top dollar is paid in the purchase of these gemstones, which allows money for HIV drugs and schooling. Guy personally carries the stones to Sri Lanka to be cut and polished, where polishers are well paid compared to local competition, and work in a clear, clean, light and uplifting working environment.
